Review: The Beatles Remastered Box Set

The 9/9/09 saw a blast from the past, with Apple re-releasing the much anticipated Beatles collection remastered. The most highly sought after release was a complete box set of Beatles albums, ranging from the clean cut 'Meet The Beatles', to the psychedelic and colourful 'Let it Be'.

In review, this collection highlights the amazing qualities of The Beatles captivating works, produced an example of their potential with today's technological developments. When initially listening to the re-mastered tracks, one may seem to hear no drastic changes, but when comparing the works with their original hits, a creditable different can be noted. The works have a brighter texture, with a more even feature of instruments, as many of The Beatles original recordings were single microphone. The famous 'polished harmony's' are more prominent and sound will be described as 'cleaner'. Tracks are louder in general, compared to some works with were originally described as 'muffled'.

This collection is priced at an average of $300. In general, one would not recommend purchasing this box set if you already own all Beatles albums, however if you own the odd Beatles CD, and are looking to expand your library, this is a prefect way to get the complete collection.
